Training at Hillside: Training at Hillside Stable is done by Karen Nelson. Owners are invited to participate, or if they are unable, then we will do our best to provide you with videos updating you of your horses progress. We temporarily stopped training outside horses to focus on our own, but again taking on a small number of select horses. Only taking one horse at a time, or two with the same owner. We provide basic starting, or "added value" training in dressage, jumping, or open show type rail classes. Horses may be taken out on trails, ridden in our indoor and outdoor arena, and can be trailered to shows/trails if requested. Our training philosophy is that horses are unique individuals that should be worked with in a manner that best fits their learning style as well as the owner's goals and riding style. We use ponying, longeing, long lining and other ground work to prepare the horses for being ridden, so that the actual step of being ridden is stress free and an easy next step. Riding can be done English or Western. For more insight into Karen Nelson and training philosophies, read CHT- Articles link on the right, and check out our blog!
